Fix QuickBooks Error 15242 When Attempting to Update Payroll

QuickBooks error 15242 arises when you download QuickBooks or payroll updates. 

 

Reasons:

• Wrong installation of QuickBooks.
• FCS service is disabled.
• Damaged company file. 

QuickBooks Payroll error 15242 can be resolved by:
Method 2)

• You need to validate the payroll membership from the ‘Employees’ tab of the QuickBooks.
• You need to close the ‘QuickBooks Payroll Account Maintenance’ which will appear onscreen and it will get automatically validated.

 

Method 2) 

You should go for a clean installation of QuickBooks in a selective startup.

For this go to selective startup from the general tab in the Run command. 

Method 3) 

Older versions of the QuickBooks might result in error 15242.

So check for the updates from the update section of the windows.

 

Method 4)

You should rectify the FCS settings. 

You must spot QuickBooks FCS in services and applications.
